Facilities:
Banner Hill School is nestled in the shadows of Blackhead, Black Dome, and Thomas Cole Mountains in the Northern Catskills of upstate New York. Our brand new woodworking, ceramic, and fine arts studios are well lighted, airy and dustless....all part of a reclaimed pre-1850 hand hewed timber frame, that was timbered right here in the surrounding forests of the old Banner Farm.
In our woodworking program we use indigenous woods that are timbered from managed wood lots.
In our ceramic program we are equipped with a state of the art studio.
For our drawing, painting and fine arts classes our studio overlooks our beautiful backyard of the Kaatskills. (Just as they were for Thomas Cole and Frederick Church of the Hudson River School of painters, the inspiring panoramic views of the Kaatskills are truly our real studio).
Equipment & Tools:
Banner Hill provides most of the tools and other items you may need. There are, however, some classes that may require you to purchase separately, specific materials in advance. Some of these materials may be purchased through the school when they are denoted in a course description. Please refer to specific course listings for further information.
Some students prefer to bring their own tools and materials with them....in most cases, we can accommodate and encourage students to do so. However, please contact us beforehand, so we may discuss how they will fit into your specific course and project needs. All tools and other personal property you bring to the school is the student's responsibility.
